Good Friday
The origin of the word Good is not clear. Some say it is from "God's Friday", while others maintain that it is from the German Gute Freitag, and not specially English. Sometimes, too, the day was called Long Friday by the Anglo-Saxons; so today in Denmark.
Even though sinners nailed Jesus to the cross, the love of the Father in Him was not quenched. He suffered like each and every one of us would suffer, yet He offered forgiveness and acceptance for those who would accept it.
At Zion we have come to realize that Christ could not have died on the day that is called Good Friday. Jesus stated that He would be in the earth for three days ("For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth" Matthew 12:40). The Jews counted days from sundown to sundown, and Jesus was a descendant of the tribe of Judah. Sundown Friday to sundown Sunday is only two days! Ponder this - If He died on Good Friday prior to sundown, how could He then be resurrected on the first day of the week, Sunday?
